Summer Rafting 2013

August 2nd - Here's a blast from the past (2002 - see below). Wayne Failing and Becky as a team at Middle Earth Expeditions. I'm back in the saddle again, as Wayne would say. North Creek Rafting Company purchased Middle Earth Expedition's 16-foot rafts - Aragorn and Windwalker.

"How do we do it?" - Wayne Failing

"With style and grace." - Wayne Failing

August 1st  - Ellie, our raft-loving girl, turned 12. We celebrated with one of her favorite activities, WHITEWATER RAFTING (see below). Her 3 year old nephew, Stanley, rode along with her. They usually wear life jackets. See photos below taken by Jim Swedburg of Ellie riding the Narrows in the Hudson River Gorge.

July 21st and 22nd in Indian Lake, NY–The Peltons, of North Creek Rafting Company, participated in the Adirondack Challenge whitewater raft races with Governor Andrew Cuomo on Sunday and Monday. Mr. Pelton guided a crew of six rafters including Lieutenant Governor, Robert Duffy on Sunday. Mrs. Pelton guided a crew of six rafters Sunday and Monday. Her crews included reporters from Men’s Journal, The Wall Street Journal, The UK’s Travel Trunk, and North Country Public Radio. Mrs Pelton is pictured (below) with a paddle-shaped trophy for winning first place in her heat on Monday. Governor Andrew Cuomo and Mr. Pelton are also in the picture. The picture was taken at the awards ceremony at Gore Mountain ski area.
