Herman Hangs in his Dad's Lifejacket on Father's Day

Herman's a curious cat and finds all boxes, baskets, bowls, dry bags, clothing, geodes, etc, etc ... comfortable.

He's very special at North Creek Rafting. One our 16-ft State-Of-The-Art Rafts (or SOTARs),"Herman", is named in his honor. He has a tiny twin, Rondeau, named after the famous Adirondack hermit Noah John Rondeau, see Rondeau below. Rondeau also has a 16' SOTAR named in his honor. Rondeau lives up to his namesake, rarely to be seen by friends and family.

Riding a Warm Swollen River

Stanley and Ellie ride the Hudson River from North River to the train station in North Creek.
Esther learns to walk along the side of the raft.
A captain and his mates
Gazing into Esther's human-like eyes
Esther takes it all in.

Stanley is the most relaxed of the bunch.
He's one with the sounds and smells of the river and forest.

Ellie loves rafting.

Boreas River and Nate Rush through Coniferous Forest

Nate and his canoe rapidly sailed down the Boreas River under the bridge along Northwoods Club Road where I took these pictures. Two miles later he turned onto the Hudson and eventually took out at our base in North River. The trip was five miles total, two miles on the Boreas River and three miles on the Hudson River.  The rain last night brought the Boreas River up to a runnable level. One has got to be in the right place at the right time to run the Boreas River.
